There are many good reasons to join SARTA, in addition to the numerous major achievements of SARTA over the years, including: (click on the links below to move to information on that topic).

SARTA Has Helped Many Members Save Thousands of Dollars Whether its through avoiding breaches under the C&E laws and the resultant fines, or help with gaining access to particular routes for Restricted Access Vehicles, or solving other operational issues with Government, or help with resolving IR issues such as Wage Claims, or avoiding or resolving Unfair Dismissal Claims, SARTA members can save thousands of dollars. At the very least SARTA members are well informed and are able to be up-to-date with key industry developments. SARTA Gets Results With Governments The State Government considers SARTA to be the Peak Industry Body in South Australia. The Government and most Local Councils consult SARTA on Road Transport issues. So SARTA can help you get your point of view across to Governments on any issue; including Routes & Access, Permits and Mass Limits. SARTA plays a key role on the SA Freight Council, which advises Government on freight issues, and the Heavy Vehicle Industry Forum.

SARTA keeps you Up-To-Date on Developments Each week SARTA produces a weekly publication that is distributed via email, fax or post to members informing them of hot industry issues, many of which directly affect your profitability or operations. Access to Expert Advice on Chain of Responsibility (C&E) laws and NHVAS Accreditation  

The Compliance & Enforcement laws (C&E) now hold truck drivers, truck operators and all other parties in the Chain of responsibility, including customers, legally liable for their role in any breaches of the C&E Laws. These laws impose MAJOR FINES from $500 and up to $50,000 for breaches the Heavy vehicles laws concerning:

Access to Expert Advice/Products on Fatigue Management & Speed Compliance 

A major issue facing truck operators is meeting the complex Fatigue Management and Speed Compliance legal requirements. SARTA Members can access the expert advice and Fatigue Management & Speed Compliance products available from SAMS. This includes advice and information on:

• Legal Duties of Care that you must meet;
• The three Hours Options (Standard, BFM and AFM) and how to access them;
• Accreditation Programs for BFM and AFM;
• The most common Breaches and how to avoid them;
• How to ensure that you have a Reasonable Steps Defence when breaches do occur;
• and much more ....

Extensive information and advice on the routine aspects of the Fatigue Management and Speed Compliance laws is available to SARTA members for FREE.  Significant information is also available to SARTA Members online through the Member Resources pages of this website.

Additional non-routine Fee-For-Service support, such as Accreditation Programs and SAMS's other specialist Fatigue and Speed Compliance products and software programs, are available to SARTA Members, generally at substantially discounted rates. See sams.net.au

NB: All Fees are GST inclusive. SARTA provides its members with a wide range of services as part of their membership package in return for very modest membership fees based upon fleet size:

 *Some services such as these are provided to members on a Fee-For-Service basis at a 20% discounted rate, by SAMS. This allows SARTA to maintain a low membership fee structure and only those members who need the additional services pay for them.
